Fish Creek is a spectacular place to try your skills at ice climbing. Great for beginners or those interested trying ice climbing. All climbing equipment and instruction is provided by knowledgeable guides.Only five minutes from downtown and a short hike to the base of the falls, RMV guides provide instruction on ice axe and crampon (spiked boots) technique and set up a climbing top-rope on a pre-set anchor (just like in climbing gyms, only on ice). Climbers can climb as high as they want and be lowered whenever they please. RMV guides promote a positive learning experience on a 200 foot waterfall in the beautiful Fish Creek canyon. If your lucky, you might even get to see the water flowing behind the ice…

Equipment: Crampon compatible hard boots are required. Ski boots work great, so if you ski, bring your ski boots (snowboarding boots do not work). We have a selection of ski boots to use as well. Dress warm, as if you were going skiing or snowboarding, with warm, dry gloves and a hat that will fit under a climbing helmet. Don’t forget your camera. Crampons, Ice axes, Harnesses and Backpacks are provided. A hot drink and snack are provided during tour.

Times may vary. For ice climbing trips, we can provide transportation from our downtown location (kiosk on the corner of 5th and Lincoln, in front of Mahogany Ridge restaurant), or climbers can follow in their own vehicles.

Cancellation Policy: RMV must receive at least 48 hours notice for full refund. Less then 48 hours notice or no notice at all – we will charge the credit card for the total trip cost.
